• L-1011 Stargazer, registered N140SC did a couple of flights out of Mojave last month. Beside keeping pilots current on the type, these flights were also intended to test newly installed avionics, Universal FMS Garmin moving map, Garmin radar and XM Weather;

• Airline History Museum - owner of the L-1011 msn 193B-1066 - is now expecting a decision (or another notice of extension...) next February 18 about its right to keep making use of Hangar 9 at Kansas City Airport (MCI);

• Since L-1011 msn 293B-1240, registered CS-TEB, is not seen anymore on Google Maps/Google Earth at Amman Civil Airport, it's now presumed to have been scrapped. In its last known location at the airport is now visible an Ilyushin Il-76 instead.

With the demise of Virgin Orbit and the failure of their modified 747-400, the Pegasus launch system is still a valuable and proven asset and the L-1011 remains the only airborne launch platform for the Pegasus Rocket.

Airline History Museum fighting for survival (III)

The fate of the museum and its hangar was again postponed. New date for a decision is now December 19.

C-FTNA, parked at Lyon Airport, to be dismantled

According to the Facebook group Airplane mode, msn 193M-1019, last tail number C-FTNA with Air Transat, will be scrapped and removed from its current parking position. The aircraft, which was parked in LYS since it was caught in-flight in the middle of a hail storm, was rendered a write-off beyond economical repair and was being used as a conference space and for fire fighters training.

Being permanently exposed to the elements and without proper maintenance and cleaning, the aircraft became derelict.

After scrapping and removal, the site will be used as a hydrogen station.

Just a quick update to inform that the decision towards the rights of the hangar space of Airline History Museum was again postponed. This time, a final deliberation is expected this year by November 21.

Airline History Museum (legally Save A Connie, Inc) which runs an aviation museum in Kansas City Airport (MCI) has lost access to its hangar - for more than three years now - while fighting a legal battle against Kansas City Aviation Department and Signature Flight Support who are trying to evict the museum from their facilities at the airport, which would mean the end of it.

Airline History Museum has a large and relevant aircraft collection, including a Lockheed Constellation and a Lockheed L-1011.

Although a final decision has been postponed several times, the new deadline is now October 7, 2025. You can follow the case at the museum's website:

TAP Air Portugal relaunches Los Angeles (LAX) route

TAP Air Portugal started flying to Los Angeles in April 1989 using the L-1011 TriStar 500. The route, called the "Bi-coastal" was seasonal and only lasted until the early 90s.

Yesterday, TAP relaunched the route to Los Angeles, 6 years after flying again to San Francisco, this time using their A330neos.

I thought it would be nice to remember those days when the L-1011 was the flagship of the fleet:
